Kids at play

It's so gloomy outside I say to the kids,
you have to just stay in and pout!!

But mom we have played in worse,this is
just you being mean of course.

It's raining and thundering!don't you
see the lightning flashing? It will
strike you down to the ground.

Mom you just don't understand us at all,
we just want to go outside and play ball.

We are bored and you keep us trapped, we
get so tired of that!

If you had ever been young before you would
let us past this door!We are bored don't
you see? we just want to go outside and play!

Can you please let us be free we promise
when we come back in you will not hear one
more complaint from her or me.

So I say this to my little children,if you
are bored I can find you something to do!go
wash a dish or two!the floors need vacuumed,
the trash needs taken out,get your lips out
of that pout!

Then there is always your room and homework
to! I can find plenty for you to do!

O mom they exclaim,we forgot there is a inside
game we can play,we will help you do chores
on another day!

As they scamper to their rooms,I laugh and
say don't forget the broom and clean your
bedrooms!!
